Nirma University, established in 1995 and granted deemed university status, is one of Gujarat's most prominent private universities, located on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway (SG Road) in Ahmedabad. Founded by the Nirma Education & Research Foundation — backed by Karsanbhai Patel, founder of the Nirma Group — the university combines strong industry linkages with rigorous academic programmes. The university is NAAC A+ accredited and serves over 15,000 students across its engineering, pharmacy, commerce, science, law, management, and technology institutes. The Institute of Technology (Nirma IT) offers B.Tech in 10 engineering branches, with admissions through JEE Main, GUJCET, or the university's own NUPAT test. B.Tech fees are approximately ₹2.95 lakh per year; the MBA programme costs ₹5.80 lakh per year. Placement statistics for the 2024 batch showed an average CTC of ₹9.5 LPA across engineering branches, with top offers in IT and Computer Science significantly higher. The university is one of the few private institutions in India with a full-service teaching hospital (NUPAT campus includes Nirma Lab facilities), a Law School, and a Pharmacy School under one roof. Annual events include Sangram (inter-university sports meet) and Kaleidoscope (cultural festival). Strong alumni networks span both Indian industry and international corporations, with many graduates in senior roles at TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T, and major pharma companies.
