Figma is the design platform that moved product design into the browser, founded in 2012 by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace and launched publicly in 2016. Its multiplayer, real-time collaboration made it the industry standard for UI/UX design, displacing desktop tools across startups and enterprises alike, with FigJam for whiteboarding, Dev Mode for engineers, Figma Slides, and AI features rounding out the platform. After a proposed $20B Adobe acquisition was abandoned in 2023 over regulatory concerns, Figma went public on the NYSE in July 2025 in one of the year's landmark tech IPOs. India is one of Figma's largest user bases, with a huge community of designers and its Config conference content followed avidly by Indian design teams.
