Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) is the first R-rated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the highest-grossing R-rated film in cinema history, earning over $1.338 billion globally. Directed by Shawn Levy, it stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine — bringing the Fox X-Men era characters fully and officially into the MCU. The film functions as both a wild comedy and a genuine love letter to the Fox Marvel era — a universe of films that, despite their critical inconsistency, produced characters and performances that defined a generation of comic-book cinema. Through the TVA and the concept of the Void, Deadpool & Wolverine acknowledges the pain of losing those characters and gives them — and their fans — a proper goodbye.
