Sakshi Malik won India's first female Olympic wrestling medal — a Bronze in 58kg freestyle wrestling at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Her victory in the bronze medal match came from a come-from-behind performance that brought India to tears. She returned to India as a national hero and was awarded the Padma Shri. Her achievement inspired a generation of young girls in Haryana to take up wrestling.
